As a motor Insurance policy holder you will probably be familiar with the way most insurance companies now work, usually you will find your self dealing with an individual in a call centre, whom can answer almost everything apart from the question that you want answered.
A typical response can be, you must take your car to one of our recognised repairs UNTRUE as we live in a fairly rural area this can be a real problem, as some of my customers have been told there car will be taken some 60 miles away for repair i.e. Selkirk to Dumfries.
You will be told that recommended repairs will supply with a courtesy vehicle and guarantee any work carried out for 5 years we offer the exact same service and we will also offer a cash back scheme in certain circumstances
You are entitled to have your car repaired by the repairer of your choice
As stated by the V.B.R.A. Vehicles Builders Repairers Association
It has been agreed by the A.B.I and the O.F.T. ( Office of Fair Trading) that it is the policy holders choice witch repairer carries out repairs to there motor vehicle
Remember keep your business local choose a local repairer you own your vehicle it is your choice.
